The World First Mobile Phone Digital Feature Film 'Jalachhayam' (90mints-35mm) Is Made From India By Sathish Kalathil,The Director Of 'Veena Vaadanam';The First Mobile Phone Movie In India. Veena Vaadanam Is A Malayalam Documentary And It Narrates About Art. It Pictured By Nokia N70(2mega pixel-16mm-26mints). Jalachhayam Is Pictured By Nokia N95(5mega pixel) And It Was Screened On 6th June 2010, Sunday, 9.ooam At Sree Theatre, Thrissur, Kerala, India.

Way To “Jalachhayam” Earlier, Sathish Kalathil, Dr. B Jayakrishnan, Baburaj Puthur and Sujith Aalungal, the natives of Thrissur had filmed a documentary named Veena Vaadanam about the origin- growth-and the evolution of Painting, in Nokia N70 mobile phone in 2006-2007. The CD of this documentary had been released on 20th july 2008 at Thrissur and on that day it had been screened in 16 mm, successfully. Until now, this documentary has been screened in various film festivals and is renowned as the first mobile phone film in India, which has received the certificate of Central Board of Film Certification on 25th sep. 2008. The success of Veena vaadanam instilled in this team the confidence to make a feature film. Jalachhayam had been switched on by P Ramdas, the director of the first neo-realistic film in India, News Paper Boy at Namboodiri Vidyalayam, Thrissur on 22nd nov. 2008. First Clap was by Film actor Kripa. The conclusion of the film’s shooting had been inaugurated by T V Chandramohan, MLA on 06th dec. 2009. The end of all efforts of this venture, the World’s first mobile phone cinema was announced by P Ramdas, at Press Club, Kottayam on 11th may 2010.

While working in Maadhyamam Daily at Thrissur, she wrote serially an Investigative Report namely ‘The God of Hilltop who doesn’t know the way to development’ featuring Maniyam Kinar Tribal Colony at Thrissur. This report fetched her the coveted Dr.Ambedkar Media Award for 2009 instituted by Government of Kerala. As a multiplier, basing this Report, The Tribals of Maniyam Kinar Colony, for the first time in India, got the Land Documents for their lands conforming to the Forest Protection Act.

THEME:

Mohan, an art teacher in a city college meets Sadanandan, an ordinary villager incidentally, and learning his aptitude in drawing, teaches him the nuances of modern methods of painting. Mohan buys the Paintings of Sadanandan -which were good enough than an amateur Painting- was beyond the expectations of Mohan. But, Sadanandan was totally unaware of the philistine attitude of Mohan who uses him for own benefit. Jalachhayam narrates about how Sadanandan survives the moment he knows, Mohan, a godfather-like figure to Sadanandan, was cheating him.

BEHIND:

Jalachhayam was directed by Sathish Kalathil. Story-Screenplay-Dialogues were by Sujith aalungal, and Pramod Vadakara filmed Jalachhayam. Unnikumar gave music to Sidharthan Puranattukara’s lyrics, for which Baburaj Puthur rendered his magical voice. A mesmerizing solo song in this film has to play a major part in the climax of this film. Chief Associate Director of this film is Bhasi pangil in which Make-up was done by Production Controller Saju Pulikkottil, Costumes by Ajeesh M Vijayan, Art by Surya and Sound Recorded by Sujesh Shankar. Sound Mixing and BGM had been done by Adv.P K Sajeev.

ACTORS AND CHARACTERS:

Baburaj Puthoor, music teacher in Mohan Sithara’s Music School and Dr. B Jayakrishnan, a famous ayurvedic doctor in Thrissur gave life to the characters Sadanandan and Mohan respectively. The characters of Mohan’s wife Geetha and his daughter have been given life by dancer Prasanna Balan and baby Nimisha and Sadanandan’s children Chinju and Kannan are baby Lakshmi and master Navin Krishna. Film actor Kripa gave a guest appearance in this film and other leading actors are theatre actor Chitramohan, Prof. K B Unnithan, N P K Krishnan, Das Anjery, Saju Pulikkottil, N K Saseedharan, Rukhia Kechery, and Ramachandran Manakkody.Kalathil, Director, Sankarayya road.

COST AND CONTRIBUTIONS:

Jalachhayam, having a budget of Rupees Three Lakhs has been produced by Peoples Films from the outstanding contributions of the generous film lovers. Nokia N95 mobile, the ‘Camera’ used for filming Jalachhayam was the contribution of N P K Krishnan, Proprietor, West Hill Travel Centre, Kunnathmana Lane, Thrissur. Prof. K B Unnithan has inaugurated the ‘Popular Fund’ of Jalachhayam by handing over his contribution, a cheque for rupees Ten Thousand. An NRI who doesn’t want to reveal his identity has contributed more than rupees One Lakh and P Raju, Proprietor of Top in Town Catering Service, Palakkad has contributed rupees Five Thousand. Dr. K G Mohan, a renowned artist in Thrissur, has offered the paintings required to shoot the film. Film has been edited by Rajesh Manganam, Colorspot Digital Studio, Manganam, Kottayam for no cost. Along with them, Jalachhayam acknowledges the outstanding contributions of Saju Pulikkottil, Pramod Vadakara, Ajeesh M Vijayan, Das Anjery, P K Sajeev, Chitramohan, Prasanna Balan, Bhasi Pangil, Unnikumar and B Asok Kumar with heartfelt gratitude.
